We Job Box is heading to Web Summit Lisbon this November after being selected to join the event’s ALPHA startup programme.

From 9–12 November 2026, we’ll be joining founders, investors, technology leaders and innovators from around the world at one of the world’s major technology conferences.

For We Job Box, being selected as an ALPHA startup is an exciting milestone in our journey as we continue to build, test and grow our platform and collaborative community.

A full-circle moment

For our founder, Lalita Taylor, the trip to Web Summit has a particularly personal significance.

During her time at the BBC, she worked on BBC Academy Fusion, helping to build a knowledge-sharing community within the organisation.

Whenever colleagues attended major technology and industry conferences, she would encourage them to return and share what they had discovered with the wider BBC community — spreading access to new ideas, innovations and conversations beyond the people who had been in the room.

Now, the tables have turned.

“Years ago, I was the person catching colleagues before they headed off to the big-ticket conferences and asking them to come back and share what they had learned with the rest of us.

Now I’m going to Web Summit myself — not with the BBC, but with something I built.

I’ve been thinking a lot about bucket lists and manifestation. As I mature, my bucket list feels less like a list of distant dreams and more like a mental to-do list of things I want to experience while I have the health, energy and curiosity to do them."

"Taking We Job Box to Web Summit is definitely one of those moments.”

Building and growing together

Our selection comes as We Job Box continues to develop through collaboration — bringing together people, ideas and expertise to help shape what we are building.

We’re grateful to everyone who has contributed to our community so far, whether through advice, introductions, testing, feedback, collaboration or simply believing in what we’re trying to create.

We are building and growing — together.

And in keeping with that original BBC philosophy, we won’t be keeping what we learn in Lisbon to ourselves.

We’ll be sharing insights, ideas and discoveries from Web Summit with our community along the way.

Going to Web Summit too? We’d love to hear from you.
