"I Wish Something Like This Had Existed When I Was a Teenager": Demonstrating We Job Box to the Minister
When opportunity knocks, you have to keep pace. Next week I’m proud to be demonstrating We Job Box to the Minister from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, who are funding our pilots.
Part of the experience will be showing how our participants engage directly with employers.
Here’s a personal viewpoint from Deloitte’s Imran Choudhury about how our “Meet the Employers - speed networking” works. It perfectly captures the experience we’re trying to create:
“When Lalita reached out to me to volunteer for this initiative, I initially thought it would be a fairly standard mentoring session over Zoom. Far from it. The format was unlike anything I’ve experienced - a virtual avatar experience offering students real-world insights into professional life.
I wish something like We Job Box had been around when I was a teenager.
I was very grateful to play a small part in this fascinating project, helping to democratise opportunities for hard-to-reach and underrepresented young people.”
Thank you to our employers, participating schools, further education colleges, sixth form colleges, young people, careers leads, and our student floorwalkers - both in person and virtual - from University College Birmingham, and Aston University who are also our Evaluation partner.
You are all part of our mission: widening access so young people can experience work in ways that are meaningful, impactful and fun.
