From Zero Hands to Every Hand: Why We Job Box Is Heading to Web Summit Lisbon
For years, I’ve wanted to attend Web Summit.
Every year, I’d watch from afar and think, “Maybe one day.”
Today, I’m delighted to say that day has arrived.
We Job Box has been invited to join Web Summit Lisbon as an Alpha startup.
The support package is incredible.
But for me, it’s about more than the benefits.
The invitation feels like recognition of a mission that is built with purpose.
At We Job Box, we’re helping young people gain real-world experience and discover careers they may never have considered possible.
This week at Aston University, our employer partner Irwin Mitchell asked a room full of psychology students a simple question:
“Would you consider a career in law?”
Not one student raised their hand.
After exploring medical negligence case studies and speaking to lawyers who had started out with psychology degrees themselves, the students were asked the same question again.
This time, every hand went up.
That moment says everything.
Young people don’t lack ambition. Often, they simply lack exposure to the opportunities available to them.
That’s the gap we’re determined to close.
As we continue building our MVP and prepare to launch We Job Box Microjobs at Surrey University, the excitement from employers, educators and young people has been overwhelming.
We’re sold out.
We’re growing.
And now we’re taking that story to Lisbon.
Have a great weekend.
